- \gre-nada\ - 1. a Native American word meaning marriage 2.
the perfect community to live, work, shop, and play |
| |
We
all know that a great marriage takes work. It's the perfect
blend of a lot of different elements and involves a tremendous
amount of teamwork. Grenada may have taken its' name from a
word that means marriage but we've taken it a step farther.
We are all working hard to blend all the elements that make
a great community. We're large enough to offer you what you
need, yet small enough to be friendly. A great location, excellent
schools, quality
health care, affordable
housing and terrific people have combined to make Grenada
a regional "hub" for employment, commerce, and recreation.
Grenada is located in North central Mississippi where the Delta
and Hill Country meet, almost equal distance between Memphis
and Jackson. Unlike many of the communities located on the edge
of the Delta, Grenada's economy is primarily based in manufacturing
rather than agriculture. This means ample opportunity for the
County's 23,000 residents. |

| In
addition to employment opportunities, Grenada has a wealth of
recreational opportunities. The city is home to Grenada
Lake, a flood control lake with more square footage than
Ross Barnett Reservoir. The Lake has miles of nature
trails, camp
grounds, beaches, boating
facilities, and hundreds of hidden "honey holes"
just waiting to be discovered by some lucky fishermen. The Dogwoods Golf Course, an 18 hole public golf course, is located along the lake. |

| With
the outstanding educational and recreational opportunities available
Grenada is the perfect place to raise a family. There are approximately
55 police officers patrolling Grenada's streets and instances
of violent crime are exceedingly rare. Grenada businesses offer
a variety of goods and services. In fact, our pull factors are
among the highest in the State. Our educational facilities are
receiving State-wide and National acclaim. Any way you look
at it Grenada is poised for tremendous growth!! |
| |
There are also many cultural opportunities in Grenada. There are a number of groups and
organizations that meet regularly. The Elizabeth
Jones Library also has many events in addition to a fine
collection of books and reference materials. |
