Business Climate

Grenada is perfectly located to provide excellent pathways to the major markets of the Southwest, Southeast, and Midwest. Within 500 miles of Grenada, 76 metropolitan areas with populations totaling over 51 million are accessible. An added bonus is Grenada's close proximity to Memphis, America's distribution center. Being less than 90 minutes south of Memphis allows shippers who depend on Federal Express to deliver cargo as late as midnight directly to the Memphis International Airport and still get next day delivery anywhere in the world. And for those of businesses looking south Grenada is only 85 miles north of Nissan and 102 miles north of Jackson right on Interstate 55.

Grenada is a manufacturing community with a large portion of its citizens employed in manufacturing. The diversified manufacturing base of Grenada includes manufacturing of heating and refrigeration equipment, automobile wheel covers, oriented strand board, newsprint, plastics, manufactured storage buildings, polyethylene foam, mirrors, treated wood, hardwood flooring, insulation, lumber, and wood chips.

Abundant resources and strong infrastructure make Grenada even more attractive to investors. Grenada's land and building costs are among the lowest in the state. Three prime industrial sites with interstate access, rail and utilities are available. Water is abundant, requiring minimal treatment and no filtration. Not only does Grenada Lake act as a recreational showpiece, it also supplies more than 35,000 surface acres of water and is adjacent to the City's industrial properties.

Civic, County and City leaders have thrown their support and expertise behind Forward Grenada, an unprecedented cooperative business partnership between the public and private sector in place to promote many beneficial initiatives. Emphasizing workforce training, job creation, community beautification, and a host of other laudable and measurable goals, Forward Grenada has achieved much since its inception in the late 90's.

The Grenada City Council, The Grenada County Board of Supervisors, the Chamber of Commerce, and Forward Grenada exhibited true forward thinking with the purchase 1,175 acres north of the Air Industrial Park. This land purchase has positioned Grenada among the fore runners in the State's industrial development race. Grenada is the only city in Mississippi with this much land so close to the interstate.
