The
Grenada School District excels in academic pursuits, scoring
above the State average in ACT scores, standardized testing,
and state evaluation initiatives. Grenada School District students
consistently place in regional, state, and national science
fair competitions, Knowledge Bowl contests, State History Day
events, Reading Fair exhibits, and regional band festivals &
championships.
A new athletic field house was completed in 1999 and features
an indoor practice facility, dressing rooms, coaches' offices,
and a weight room. This multi-purpose structure offers Grenada
School District students a variety of amenities to effectively
support the diverse sports programs. The building features a
red and blue exterior in school colors and 8,000 square feet
of functional space.
Opened for students in October of 2000, the new Grenada Upper
Elementary School is the most recent addition to our District.
The 96,000 square foot complex contains 40 classrooms, a media
learning center, a play gym, and the Discovery Lab hands-on
math and science learning center. The Lab correlates the activities
with the State's curriculum and optimizes interactive student
learning through a variety of experiments.
The pursuit of grant monies is a priority for Grenada School
District to fund technology acquisitions in every school, to
initiate innovative teaching strategies, offer teacher training,
and produce interactive environments. With almost two million
dollars in grant receipts, grants have funded part of Grenada
Upper Elementary’s "Galaxy" science program
and Discovery Lab, Grenada Middle School's "Walls that
Teach" project and the living ecosystem initiative, Grenada
High School's electronic classroom, technology additions across
the District, teacher training programs, and Internet access
for all classrooms. |
