| On
Sunday, August 22, 2004, Grenada won the bid 27 – 6 over
Pickwick Lake to host the 2005 Mississippi State B.A.S.S. Federation
Tournament in April. At a meeting in Jackson with 33 bass clubs
represented, the Hernando Bass Club took Grenada’s bid
to the table. Brandi Brown, Director of the Grenada Tourism
Commission stated that “this is just another boost for
Grenada and Grenada Lake proving that we are becoming an outdoor
destination and that we are making our mark in the region. |
 |
| The
word is getting around. With our success in the past four years
with hosting national crappie tournaments, it is only natural
that we would want to try other markets as well.” Over
200 boats are expected for this 4 day event with 2 days being
for practice fishing. Twelve fishermen will be selected to go
on to the national tournament later in 2005. This tournament
has previously been held in Columbus for 5 years. Should there
not been any bids from the designated area of the state which
happened to be the North, then Columbus would have been able
to bid and hold the tournament again possibly for a sixth year.
Fortunately, we put the right package together and they bought
it. |
