The
National Championship of Bass Pro Shops CrappieMasters
Mega Bucks Team Tournament Trail was held on Grenada Lake,
Grenada, Mississippi, on October 20-23, 2004. Over 150
teams qualified to compete for $85,000 in cash and prizes,
with a completely rigged Triton 186 boat, with trailer,
150 HP Mercury Motor, Motorguide trolling motor, Lowrance
fish locator, plus $2,500 cash(for a total of $31,000)
going to the first place team in the two-day tournament.
Grenada Lake and Grenada, Mississippi, are widely known
for their warm southern hospitality and great crappie
fishing. Year-round, Grenada Lake offers some of the finest
crappie action in the country, and having hosted numerous
crappie tournaments through the years, the folks in Grenada
know how to take care of all the needs of the competitors
and their families. On Thursday, there was an historic
tour of Grenada for spouses, and on Friday a shopping
spree, both activities sponsored by the Grenada Tourism
Commission, Brandi Brown, Executive Director. |

Registration for the tournament was held on Tuesday, October
19, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in
Grenada, MS. Teams were allowed to pre-fish in practice
for the tournament on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday
evening, the National Sponsors hosted a banquet for participants
and their families, staff, and members of the press at
the Holmes County Community College Forum Building, located
at 1060 Avent Drive in Grenada.
On Thursday, members of the press had the opportunity
to fish with teams, nine of which are former national
champions. Some very nice prizes were awarded to the winners
of the press tournament. The press tournament is also
an excellent way to gather material for future articles.
The Classic began Friday and continued on Saturday, beginning
at 6:30 a.m. each day. Competitors stopped fishing by
3:00 p.m. and be in the weigh-in line by 4:00 p.m. each
day. Winners were announced and prizes awarded at the
Saturday night banquet. In addition to the prizes awarded
to tournament winners, there was be a special drawing
for a brand new 2004 Ford F-150 Supercrew 4X4 Lariat,
provided by Kirk Auto Group of Grenada. |
