The Chase Futurity is a class of hounds ranging in ages
2 years old and under. The National - All Age Fox
Hunt was held Thursday through Saturday mornings with
the casting beginning at daybreak as well. The National
Fox Hunt is an all age competition and is said to be the
Super Bowl of Fox Hunts.
Awards are strictly silver for both, with no cash being
exchanged for winning. However, the winner of the
2004 National Fox Hunt could be sold for as much as $15,000
to $20,000. Hounds are scored on trailing, hunting,
speeding and driving, and endurance.
The 1997 Master of Hounds stated, “This is the best
place in the country to have a fox hunt. It’s
like God made it strictly for foxhunting.”
The 2004 NFH was held at Carver’s Point at Grenada
Lake. “This was be the 12th year to have the
National Hunt here in Grenada. With an estimated
economic impact of over $2.5 million dollars, we hope
very much to have them back for a 13th year,” stated
Brandi Leggett Brown, Director of the Grenada Tourism
Commission. |
