Grenada Lake

Families and outdoor enthusiasts will certainly enjoy Grenada and all it has to offer from Grenada Lake to the Lofton Archery Classic and the National Fox Hunt. With nearly 36,000 acres of recreation surface water and 148 miles of shoreline in the summer, Grenada Lake is the largest body of water in Mississippi. Boasting
17 boat landings, eight public beaches and camping areas for primitive and Class A camping, the area is perfect for swimming, jetskiing, boating and bass and crappie fishing. Basketball courts, lighted tennis courts, softball fields, fitness trails, nature/hiking trails and children’s playgrounds round out the amenities.

The Grenada Lake Visitor Center provides
personal assistance to visitors and helps
interpret the Grenada Lake Project which is
operated, maintained and managed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District. The 87,000-acre multiple use project is managed for flood control, public recreation, conservation of fish and wildlife and the proper stewardship of public forests. Formed in 1954 for flood control in the Yazoo River Basin, Grenada Dam protects
1,209,000 acres against flooding each year. The dam is earth filled and measures 2.6 miles in length.
