Hiking

 

Grenada Lake offers a multitude of choices for those that enjoy the peace and serenity of nature. Take your pick from short, long, or even intermediate length trails. No matter which way you wander, you will always be pleased by the unmatched natural beauty!

All nature and hiking trails are clearly marked for your safety. Trails also offer paths that are easy to maneuver but do not detract from the untamed beauty of the land.

Chocchuma Fitness Trail is located at the North Abutment of Grenada Lake situated near the Dam Central Recreation Area. The one-mile trail, consisting of a scenic walk with semi-flat terrain, requires some physical exertion and is part of a sports complex comprised of courts, fields, picnic shelters and playgrounds. 
 
Haserway Wetland Management Area Nature Trail is is located about halfway down the dam on Grenada Lake. The entire area below the dam is being managed for all types of wildlife from bluebirds to quail to whitetail deer.
Lost Bluff Hiking Trail is a two-mile trail leading you through all kinds of terrain from easy to extremely strenuous. Rest stops are provided along the way at scenic overlooks of the river.

Old River Run Nature Trail is a one-mile trail located on the south side of the spillway near the playground area. This scenic trail overlooks the river.

ATV Trail Riding is a big sport on Grenada Lake in the fall of the year. Numerous trails are located around the lake. ATV riding is prohibited in recreational areas at the lake.

There is a 2.8 mile nature trail winding through Hugh White State Park. This trail provides scenic views of the lake and a look at various species of Mississippi plant and animal life.
